Thirty Five Girls from The Davies School of Dance were delighted to be
asked back to Saddlers Wells Theatre in London to Perform for a second
time. The dancers who's ages ranged from 9 to 23 took part in a
glittering performance hosted by Bonnie Langford. The girls performed
two numbers to a Full House of not just their parents but to those of
the students of all the other schools that took part. Students from
several schools from all over the country and "New York" participated in
the show.
The day started early at about 6:30 AM on a Saturday morning, when the
first students arrived at Worle Scout Hall to get on the coach. After a
pickup in Clevedon it was off to London. The coaches had a buzz of
anticipation as the girls and parents alike wondered what the show would
be like.
The School arrived at Saddlers Wells Theatre at about 10:30 and were the
first to arrive. After getting off the coach and saying good-bye to the
parents (they were off shopping etc. till the show) it was time to go in
to the theatre.
That was the start of a busy, hard and hot day of rehearsals for the
show that evening. The girls had a tiring but excellent time and put in
a lot of hard work during rehearsals. In no time at all it was "Show
Time" and the Buzz of anticipation grew and grew as the Auditorium
filled up with not only their own parents but parents from all over the
country. As the girls waited for their first number the adrenaline
flowed faster and faster the nearer their time came. At last it was
their number and as they took their places on the stage and saw the
audience in the auditorium one word filled the minds of the girls " WOW
" then it was time to get down to work and perform the number. They had
one number in each half, their final number was the last number of the
schools taking part in the show before the guests from New York
After a "Very" quick change it was the finale with all the other
students and Seeing the audience applauding all of them was a feeling
that they will never forget!!!!. It was then time to collect their
things and return to the coach for the trip home.
As the parents waited outside for the girls to collect their things the
comments and praise for the girls buzzed around. It was soon a quiet
sleepy coach for the return home as the adrenaline rush subsided and the
tired girls fell asleep.
This is just one of the opportunities that the school offers its pupils,
other opportunities include appearing at charity events and the Weston
Carnival in which they are regular winners, which the girls are taking
part in this year. The school also produces its own charity show and
preparations are well under way for the next one. The school has an
excellent exam pass rate of 100% all of these opportunities help the
pupils to achieve their full potential.
Lisa-Jane Lovett the schools principal said " The girls worked so hard
for this day and I very proud of them". The School now has a very busy
12 months ahead of them working on their charity show and exams.

Lisa Jane has become an examiner, She took her Exam at the beginning
of July and has recently received the news that she passed. "
It has taken a lot of hard work and I've had to remain focused at
all times to achieve this but its been worth it " says Lisa
Jane. Lisa-Jane started dancing at the age of 3 ½ and followed
her father's footsteps when she became a dance teacher.
Lisa-Jane hopes that by achieving the status of examiner it will
enable her to provide more opportunities for her pupils. Like the
chance to dance at Saddlers Wells and Her Majesty's in London, which
many of the pupils of the Weston Youth Dance Company were able to
do last year. The Dance Company also takes part in the Weston Carnival
each year and performs at various charity events.
" I pride myself on the high standard maintained at the school
" says Lisa-Jane. She would like to thank everyone who has
supported her and helped her achieve her dream, she hopes to continue
to build on her achievement in the coming years. Including expanding
the school
